Sophomore forward C.J. Fair has scored a game-best 14 points and collected six rebounds off the bench to help the No. 2-ranked Syracuse Orange earn a 40-34 halftime lead over host Rutgers Scarlet Knights in a Big East Conference men's basketball contest at the RAC.
Senior point guard Scoop Jardine has added six points and dished out five assists, a bunch of those being alley-oop passes to Fair, for Syracuse, which trailed by as much as four points.
Sophomore center Gilvydas Biruta has netted game-high 14 points and collected five rebounds for Rutgers, which has out hustled and rebounded the Orange, 16-11.
Overall, Syracuse shot 46.4-percent (13-for-28) from the floor, while Rutgers was slightly better at 48.4-percent (15-for-31). The Scarlet Knights, however, made just one of their seven 3-point attempts and turned the ball over six times, which led to 12 Orange points.
