Georgetown Vs. St. John's Final Score: Hoyas Hold Off Red Storm, 71-61

The Georgetown Hoyas completed a season sweep of the St. John's Red Storm, defeating the Johnnies 71-61 Sunday afternoon in a Big East Conference men's basketball game at the Verizon Center. The Hoyas (19-5, 9-4 Big East) had five players score in double figures and were led by freshman Greg Whittington (14 points), in handing St. John's (10-15, 4-9) its third straight loss. The Red Storm remain winless against ranked opponents this season (0-10).

St. John's freshman guard D'Angelo Harrison paced all scorers with 24 points, while freshman Moe Harkless added 20.

The Red Storm trailed 56-53 with just 4:21 remaining in the game, but Georgetown senior guard Jason Clark netted six straight points to push the Hoyas' lead to nine, 62-53. Clark finished with 11 points, while Otto Porter made 4-of-6 free throws in the final 1:30 to cement the victory.

St. John's visits the Seton Hall Pirates Tuesday night (7 p.m.)
