Sophomore forward C.J. Fair tallied 14 points and collected a collegiate-best 12 rebounds to lead the No. 2-ranked Syracuse Orange past the Connecticut Huskies, 85-67, in a Big East Conference men's basketball game at the Carrier Dome. The Orange (25-1, 12-1 Big East) earned their fifth straight victory in front of a season-best 33,430 fans and extended their home-winning streak to 20 games dating back to last season.
Senior point guard Scoop Jardine added a team-best and season-high 21 points including two big 3-pointers, the last coming with 5:07 to go and gave Syracuse a 69-61 lead, to help cement the win. Jardine also dished out six assists, while senior forward Kris Joseph netted 15 points on 3 of 4 shooting from 3-point land.
Sophomore guard Dion Waiter chipped in with 18 points including nine points in a 22-6 run in the final six minutes.
UConn's Jeremy Lamb scored a team-best 18 points in the losing effort for the Huskies, who has now dropped six of their last seven games.
