The St. John's Red Storm fell in overtime to the Villanova Wildcats today by a final score of 79-76 in a Big East Conference men's basketball game. A Maalik Wayns jumper late in the fourth quarter forced overtime, where the Wildcats were able to outlast the Red Storm. The loss drops the Red Storm to 8-11 on the season and 2-6 in the Big East.
St. John's guard, D'Angelo Harrison, scored a team high 28 points on an efficient 14 shots. Moe Harkless and Phil Greene also scored in double figure for the Red Storm.
The Red Storm were able to outshoot the Wildcats from the field at 48 percent, compared to 39 for the Wildcats, but were out-rebounded 46 to 29, including 21 offensive rebounds.
St. John's next game is scheduled for Jan. 25 against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
