NCAA Basketball Scores And Results: Butler Beats Buzzer And Old Dominion, 60-58

The drama has already started  in the 2011 edition of the NCAA Tournament as the No. 8-seeded Butler Bulldogs (24-9) used a Matt Howard buzzer-beating layup to edge No. 9 Old Dominion, 60-58, in the second round at the Virzon Center in Washington D.C.. The Bulldogs, who won the Horizon League Tournament last Tuesday, advance to play either No. 1 Pittsburgh Panthers or No. 15 UNC-Asheville on Saturday.

Butler, which trailed 29-27 at halftime, used 15 points from senior forward Howard and junior guard Shelvin Mack to provided another March Madness thriller. (If you don't remember the Bulldogs barley missed a half-court, desperation 3-pointer in last year's National Title game against Duke, who won 61-59.)

Senior forward Frank Hassell netted a game-best 20 points for the Monarchs (27-7), who won the Colonial Athletic Association championship with a 70-65 victory over VCU last Monday.

Earlier, No. 5 West Virginia Mountaineers beat No. 12 Clemson Tigers, 84-76.

Coming up... results from No. 4 Louisville and No. 13 Morehead St. and No. 7 Temple and No. 10 Penn State.
