As predicted by many Bracketologists, the Big East Conference earned an NCAA-record 11 invites to the 2011 NCAA Tournament, which was posted Sunday during CBS' Selection Show special. The conference's only No. 1 seed went to the Pittsburgh Panthers (27-5 and ranked No. 3 in both college basketball polls), who will play in the Southeast Regional.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (26-6) earned the conference's only No. 2 seed and will play in the Southwest Regional. The Syracuse Orange (East Regional) and Connecticut Huskies (West Regional) each earned No. 3 bids. The St. John's Red Storm earned a No. 6 seed in the Southeast Region.
The rest of the Big East's NCAA Tournament bracket seeds looked like this: Louisville Cardinals (seeded No. 4), West Virginia Mountaineers (5), Georgetown Hoyas (6), Cincinnati Bearcats (6), Villanova Wildcats (9) and Marquette Golden Eagles (11).
