Syracuse running back, Jerome Smith rushed for a 10 yard touchdown early in the third quarter to cut the Panthers lead to three at 20-17. For the rest of the quarter however, the Orange could not get anything going on offense and the Panthers tacked on two field goals to extend their lead to 26-17 at the end of three quarters.
The two stats that really stand out are Syracuse's nine penalties for 95 yards and four turnovers through just three quarters of football. The simple fact that they're even close in this game despite being obliterated in the turnover and penalty yardage battle is a feat in itself.
The fourth quarter of the game can be seen on ESPN2. Syracuse will begin the final period with possession of the football.
