College Basketball Rankings: Syracuse No. 1 In Both Polls

Syracuse takes over No. 1 for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

For the first time since the 2009-10 season, the Syracuse Orange occupy the top spot in the men's college basketball rankings.

After losses by Ohio State and Kentucky, Syracuse leaped from No. 3 to No. 1 in both of the latest rankings. The Orange have begun the season with 10 straight wins, including victories against Marshall and George Washington during the past week.

The Orange received 28 out of 30 first-place votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and 51 out of 65 votes in the AP Top 25. Syracuse was followed by Ohio State, Kentucky, Louisville and North Carolina in the AP's top five. In the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, Duke occupied the fifth spot in place of North Carolina.

Louisville (No. 4 AP, No. 4 ESPN), Connecticut (10, 9), Marquette (11, 11), Pittsburgh (14, 15) and Georgetown (17, 16) also represented the Big East.
