A late, second-quarter, 20-yard touchdown reception by Syracuse University senior wide receiver Alec Lemon from senior quarterback Ryan Nassib has allowed a Big East Conference game between the Orange and the University of Connecticut enter the half in a 7-7 tie. Syracuse had a chance to take a 10-7 lead heading into the locker room, but sophomore kicker Ross Krautman missed a 34-yard field goal with three second remaining. UConn has turned the ball over five times, including two interceptions by junior quarterback Johnny McEntee -- each were picked off by SU's junior safety Phillip Thomas.
Syracuse has just 156 total yards of offense and converted just eight first downs. Meanwhile, UConn has 151 total yards and seven first downs.
So far, UConn's freshman running back Lyle McCombs has a game-best 89-rushing yards, while SU senior quarterback Ryan Nassib leads the game in passing yards (94). Nassib has completed just seven of his 17 pass attempts, including a first-quarter interception.
UConn took an early 7-0 advantage when McEntee hit junior tight end John Delahunt on a quick slant on the Huskies' first possession of the game. Delahunt caught the ball and then bullied 10 yard into the end zone for his first collegiate TD. The score was setup on the open kick off when UConn's Nick Williams returned it 61 yards to SU's 33-yard line.
