Syracuse-Stanford Final Score: Orange Capture NIT Tipoff Tournament Title With 69-63 Win Over The Cardinal

Syracuse remained undefeated on Friday night and won its second NIT Tipoff Tournament title with a 69-63 win over Stanford at Madison Square Garden.

But it wasn't without a struggle.

Down by one at the half, the Orange trailed for most of the game and didn't see a lead until the clock was winding down thanks to a late 15-3 run. Head coach Jim Boeheim (via ESPN) explains:

"We played 40 minutes of good defense, 35 minutes of horrendous offense and 3 to 4 minutes of full-court pressure to get back in the game. They outplayed us the whole game."

Senior forward Kris Joseph was tops for Syracuse, scoring 18 points with nine rebounds, two assists and four steals. Keeping pace was Stanford's sophomore point guard Aaron Bright, who put up 13 points with four rebounds, three assists and one steal in a losing effort.

The Orange, who travel to face the Eastern Michigan Eagles next Tuesday, improve to 6-0 with the win (4-0 at home) while the Cardinal fall to 5-1 in defeat. Stanford will head to the Maples Pavilion to battle the Pacific Tigers on Monday night.
