NCAA Basketball Rankings: Syracuse No. 5 in ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll

The Syracuse Orange remain steady at No. 5 in the latest NCAA basketball rankings.

The Syracuse University men's basketball teams remain steady at No. 5 in the latest NCAA basketball rankings.

Syracuse is 4-0 to begin the season, enough to maintain the team's preseason No. 5 ranking in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. North Carolina remains a runaway No. 1. The Tar Heels are followed by Kentucky, Ohio State and Connecticut.

Syracuse and UConn are two of five teams to represent the Big East Conference in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25. They are joined by Louisville (No. 7), Pittsburgh (16) and Marquette (17). Villanova, Cincinnati and Notre Dame also received votes.

The Syracuse basketball program has been surrounded by scandal since allegations surfaced that two former ball boys were molested by long-time assistant coach Bernie Fine. Head coach Jim Boeheim immediately jumped to Fine's defense, but the assistant has been placed on administrative leave during the ongoing investigation.

Syracuse defeated Colgate, 92-47, on Saturday to remain undefeated. The Orange have won each of their four games by at least 24 points, against Fordham, Manhattan, Albany and Colgate.
