Syracuse Football Players In The NFL, Week 7: Delone Carter Has His Best Day As A Pro

SB Nation New York will be tracking the progress of former Syracuse Orange players in the NFL throughout the upcoming season. Follow this StoryStream for updates, features and commentaries.

Syracuse alumn Delone Carter had his most productive day this season running the ball for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Carter piled up 89 yards on 10 carries in the Colts 62-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

For Carter, it was a big step forward. In his previous two games, he had amassed just 67 yards on 26 rushing attempts. Carter has been splitting carries with former Big East rival Donald Brown, from UConn.

Here is video of Carter's 42-yard run Sunday night.

Here's a look at how other Syracuse football alums did during Week 7 of the NFL season:

Olindo Mare (Kicker, Carolina Panthers): Mare booted four field goals for the Panthers in their win against the Redskins on Sunday. The must-watch moment was when he made three-straight kicks ... the first two of which were called off due to Carolina penalties.

Dwight Freeney (DE, Indianapolis Colts): Freeney didn't do much of anything against the Saints this week. Then again, neither did the Colts defense, which gave up 62 points to New Orleans.

Donovan McNabb (QB, Minnesota Vikings): Donovan McNabb is now watching rookie Chris Ponder play quarterback in Minnesota. SB Nation New York editor Ed Valentine writes that it's the end of the line for No. 5.

Jameel McClain (LB, Baltimore Ravens): The Ravens face the Jaguars on Monday Night Football.
