That was obviously the worst game the No. 4 Syracuse Orange played all season.
If it wasn’t for Brandon Triche, who basically did nothing in the first half but sit on the bench, the Orange would have suffered their first defeat of the 2010-’11 season.
I have no idea what head coach Jim Boeheim is saying in the post-game presser but I am guessing it’s nothing good.
There’s no way you can give credit to Seton Hall -- okay, maybe some credit but not a lot -- which attempted 67 shots and made only 31 percent of them.
Not to mention that somehow the Pirates trailed 20-19 at halftime but chucked up 17 3-pointers and made NONE of them!
Sorry Seton Hall fans that was a gutty effort at the end but SU played to a new low — actually, a level I thought they'd play earlier in the season.
Despite the struggle, a win is a win and Syracuse (16-0, 3-0 Big East) continues to squeak out close games -- which is a good sign as March gets closer.
The Wednesday contest against the St. John’s Redstorm (10-3, 3-0) is going to be a solid one.
St. John’s is very strong, fast and athletic. And if the Pirates defense gave SU fits, I can only imagine what the Johnnies, who are much better than SHU, will do.
Looking forward to Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.
