Big East Basketball Power Rankings: Syracuse Class Of SB Nation

The Syracuse Orange may not have outranked the Connecticut Huskies in latest college basketball polls but the bloggers at SB Nation had a different opinion on Monday.

SU (10-0) earned the top spot in the latest Big East Conference Power Rankings. UConn (8-0) ranked second.

"I founded a blog called "TheUConnBlog" for a reason, and that reason was not to write good things about Syracuse," wrote Andrew Porter about the results. "But yet, I must, because the Orange have been the most convincing team in the conference so far. As a result, they're No. 1 this week, leapfrogging my beloved Huskies."

Porter admits that last Tuesday's win against Michigan State was impressive.

Umm. Did you forget the 100-43 beatdown against Upstate New York "rival" Colgate? You're killing me, Porter!

The World Wide Leader In Sports agreed with the writers of SB Nation, ranking Syracuse (No. 5) ahead of UConn (7) in its latest Top-25 power rankings on Thursday, Dec. 9.

ESPN's rankings also had the Pittsburgh Panthers at No. 3 before they lost to the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday.

On Tuesday, FOX Sports had different results when college basketball expert Jeff Goodman had the Huskies (5) above the Orange (7) in a ranking of the Top 25 squad.

Goodman is still hanging on UConn's performance in the Maui Invitational, Nov. 22-24, which featured Top-10 victories over the Michigan State Spartans and Kentucky Wildcats.

As for the other two SB Nation New York college hoops teams.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (6-2) were ranked 12 out of 16 teams in the SB Nation Big East Rankings. The St. John's Red Storm (5-2) were 14th.
