According to the latest bowl predictions from ESPN.com and CollegeFootballNews.com, the Syracuse Orange will be playing in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on December 30 at Yankee Stadium.
“Last Sunday, I had red-hot Syracuse taking the league’s No. 2 spot in the Champs Sports Bowl,” wrote ESPN.com Big East blogger Brian Bennett on Sunday. “After the home loss to Louisville over the weekend, I have the Orange staying much closer to home and helping usher in the first posteason football game at new Yankee Stadium.”
CollegeFootballNews.com has the Orange (6-3, 3-2 Big East), who need one more victory to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2004, playing Kansas State (6-3, 3-3 Big 12).
CBSSports.com has Syracuse battling NC State (6-3, 3-2 ACC) in the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 31 in Charlotte, NC.
All three websites have Pittsburgh (5-3, 3-0) earning the conference’s BCS bowl bid and playing in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, AZ on Jan. 1.
Other Big East schools projected to earn bowl bids are: West Virginia (5-3, 1-2), Louisville (5-4, 2-2), South Florida (5-3, 2-2) and Connecticut (4-4, 1-2).
Rutgers (4-4, 1-2) wasn’t projected to earn a bowl invitation.
