Boston College kicker Nate Freese kicked his second field goal of the game to help the Golden Eagles take a 6-0 lead into halftime at the Carrier Dome.
Currently, BC running back Andrew Williams has carried the ball 10 times for 68 yards. Late in the second quarter, BC used a 26-yard rush by Williams to setup a 29-yard field goal try with less than two minutes remaining in the half.
SU had a chance to score before the half but did not pick up a first down on its final possession.
The Orange started the quarter on a good note.
Five plays into the quarter, Syracuse punter Rob Long pinned Boston College inside it’s own two-yard line.
The Cuse’ defense then forced a three and out after Syracuse linebacker Marquis Spruill tackled BC quarterback Chase Rettig for a one-yard gain on third and seven.
But the SU offense couldn’t capitalize.
Starting at its own 40-yard line, SU couldn’t produce a first down and punted.
Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib is 5-for-10 for 55 yards of passing. Running back Delone Carter has a team-high 30 yards on six carries.
