The Golden Eagles lead by a field goal after one quarter of play at the Carrier Dome.
Boston College used a 15-play, 62-yard opening drive to setup kicker Nate Freese who helped the Golden Eagles take a 3-0 advantage early on.
On it’s first possession, Syracuse made two first downs and made it inside BC territory but failed to convert on a third and eight from the BC 38-yard line.
BC’s second possession of the quarter lasted 10 plays but SU forced a punt.
The Golden Eagles held the ball for over 12 minutes of the quarter.
