College Football Rankings, Week 8: Rutgers jumps to No. 17 in Coaches' Poll

The latest USA Today/Coaches' Poll was released Sunday, and Rutgers moved from No. 19 to 17.

The latest college football rankings have been released, and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights moved up from No. 19 to 17 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. The Scarlet Knights (6-0, 3-0 Big East Conference) defeated the Syracuse Orange, 23-15, Saturday at High Point Solutions Stadium. Rutgers is unbeaten after six games for the first time since 2006 and just the third time since 1976.

The Scarlet Knights are the third team in the Big East to be ranked. The Louisville Cardinals (6-0) were ranked 14th while the Cincinnati Bearcats (5-0) are No. 18.

At the top of the rankings, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Oregon Ducks remained No. 1 and 2. Alabama received all of the 59 first-place votes.

Moving up were the Kansas St. Wildcats, Florida Gators and Notre Dame Fighting Irish who polished off the top 5, respectively. The LSU Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners, South Carolina Gamecocks, USC Trojans and Florida St. Seminoles were ranked sixth thru 10th.
