For the second consecutive season Monday the No. 5-ranked Syracuse Orange will host the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a non-conference men's basketball game at the Carrier Dome (7 p.m. ET on ESPNU).
The Orange (5-0) will be looking to extend the longest home winning streak in the NCAA to 26 games. SU inherited the streak, along with the Kansas Jayhawks, after the Kentucky Wildcats had their 55-game home winning streak end Saturday with a loss to the Baylor Bears.
SU is coming off an impressive 91-82 victory at the Arkansas Razorbacks. Senior forward James Southerland scored a collegiate-best 35 points, including nine 3-pointers, to propel SU to its second "true" road victory in four seasons.
Southerland's 19.2 points per game paces the Orange in scoring, while sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams is averaging 11.6 ppg, 9.3 assists per game and 6.4 rebounds per game.
The Eagles (5-1) are led by former SU assistant coach Rob Murphy, who last year lost to Syracuse, 84-48.
Eastern Michigan's leading scorer is junior forward Daylen Harrison, who's averaging 14.2 ppg. Senior guard Derek Thompson (12.8 ppg) and junior forward Glenn Bryant (10.8 ppg) are the only other Eagles players averaging in double figures.
