Syracuse Orange men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim was interviewed by Bud and the Manchild on The Score 1260 AM in Syracuse about the upcoming season. Having lost four of the players that led the Orange to a school-record 34 wins, Boeheim is still trying to figure his lineup out:
It's pretty obvious that Brandon Triche, Michael Carter-Williams will start in the backcourt. C.J. Fair has earned his way into the starting lineup. We're looking at the other two positions. We can play two big guys; we could play one big guy. We've got some options of things we can do.
While Boeheim does like the amount of options that his team may have this season, he knows that with the loss of those players from last season that there may be more questions that surround this team than usual and that they may go through some growing pains at the start of the season:
I think we have a lot more questions than people seem to think we do, losing the four guys we lost. They made all the big plays last year, when you look back on last year. We have a lot to replace and I think we have some growing pains to go through over the first few games of the season until where we see where we are. We have no idea right now where we are.
The Orange open up their season on Friday, Nov. 9 against the San Diego St. Aztecs in the Battle on the Midway. Tip off of that game is scheduled for 8 p.m. and the game will broadcast on WTKW 99.5 FM and on other networks part of the Syracuse ISP Network.
