Tyler Roberson, a Roselle, NJ native and target of the Syracuse Orange and Rutgers Scarlet Knights men's basketball programs, has narrowed his commitment list to three schools according Zagsblog.com. The Orange are among the finalists along with the Kansas Jayhawks and Villanova Wildcats. Roberson (6'7, 200 pounds) eliminated Rutgers, SMU Mustangs and Kentucky Wildcats.
Roberson, a four-star forward according to Rivals, which ranks him as the 31st-best prospect overall, said this about a recent visit to the SU campus.
While I was at Syracuse I had a chance to watch the football game which was a lot of fun. I hung around the team, and talked to them about the program. I also saw the campus and where the team practices. The fans take pride in the program and seemed like they make their players seem appreciated.
(Read what he said about the other three schools here.)
Roberson admitted he will make a decision within the next few weeks. If SU can add him, it would then have four verbal commitments for the Class of 2013. Already, the Orange have commitments from: five-star point guard Tyler Ennis, three-star small forward B.J. Johnson and three-star center power forward Chinonso Obokoh.
SU is also targeting three-star guard Ron Patterson and soon-to-be No. 1 prospect, forward Andrew Wiggins. With its three verbal commits, the Orange have two spots remaining on its roster, however, more could open if players on the current roster progress into NBA prospects by season's end.
