Women's NCAA Tournament 2012, Baylor Vs. Notre Dame: Two No. 1 Seeds Meet In Championship On Tuesday

The 2012 Women's NCAA Tournament has reached the championship game. The Baylor Lady Bears are the overall No. 1 seed in the tournament and are 39-0 this season and will be looking to make history as the only team in NCAA history to win 40 games in a single season. Their opponent is another No. 1 seed, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Irish are 35-3 this season.

Both teams have won the national championship before (Baylor, 2005; Notre Dame 2001). Notre Dame will be in their second straight championship game, having lost to Texas A&M last season.

Baylor defeated UC Santa Barbara, Florida, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Stanford to get to the title game. Notre Dame defeated Liberty, California, St. Bonaventure, Maryland and UConn to reach the final. Baylor is led by 6-8 junior Brittney Griner who dominated the Irish in the preseason NIT with 32 points and 14 rebounds in a Baylor win. Notre Dame is led by All-American Skylar Diggins. Diggins had 27 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal in the loss to Baylor in the first meeting.

Will Baylor make history or will Notre Dame avenge an earlier loss to Baylor this season?
