Women's 2012 NCAA Tournament, Notre Dame Vs. St. Bonaventure, Final Score: Bonnies Lose, 79-35

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies fell to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 79-35, on Sunday in the Sweet 16 of the 2012 Women's NCAA Tournament, from PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.

After tying the score at 2-2 very early in the contest, Notre Dame ran away with this one. The Irish went on a 14-2 run and never looked back. St. Bonaventure found themselves down, 35-13, at halftime against the No. 1 seed.

In the second half, the Irish continued to pour it on and held the Bonnies scoreless for nearly the first six minutes of the second half while building a 45-13 lead. For the game, St. Bonaventure was held to just 18.8% shooting (9-48) while the Irish shot over the 50% mark from the field for the game.

St. Bonaventure was led by 13 points from Cece Dixon. Doris Ortega chipped in 11 points for the Bonnies. Notre Dame was led by 16 points by Natalie Novosel and 14 points from Kaila Turner.

The Bonnies finish the season at 31-4 (14-0, A-10). After going undefeated through the Atlantic 10 Conference, the Bonnies were upset by Dayton in the A-10 Tournament final. St. Bonaventure defeated Florida Gulf Coast in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament and Marist in the Second Round before falling to Notre Dame.

The Irish will move on to play Maryland in the Elite Eight.
