We all know that St. John's basketball's senior guard Dwight Hardy is confident and has ice water running through his veins, but now he's just gone too far by turning himself into a Bracketologist.
Shortly after St. John's defeated Rutgers, 65-63, in a controversial second-round victory in the 2011 Big East Tournament, Hardy told ESPN New York writer Ian O'Connor that the Johnnies have a shot at an NCAA Final Four appearance.
"I think we have a great shot of making it to the Final Four," said Hardy whose team will play the Syracuse Orange Thursday at 2 p.m. "If we can just play our style and get teams to play the way we want to play, we can beat anybody,"
More from Hardy after the jump...
"We showed it here by beating Duke. In the tournament, it's one game at a time, and anybody can be beat if you don't come to play. ... It's all about execution and having high energy on defense, and if we do that I think we can make a run and get [to the Final Four]. At least, at worst, we should be in the Sweet 16."
As of Tuesday, most Bracketologists had St. John's earning a No. 4-seed in the NCAA Tournament, which begins next week. But the question is: Can the Red Storm make a run to Houston? You tell us.
