Michael Giancone, a three-star tight end prospect who's ranked No. 23 at his position by Rivals, decided to change his commitment from Rutgers to Boston College Tuesday, reports Scout.com's Brian Dohn. Giacone verbally committed to Rutgers this past summer but after a visit to Boston College this past weekend had a change of heart.
Giacone (6-foot-5, 246 pounds) played at New Jersey City's St. Peter's Prep and is the No. 19 rated prospect in the state of New Jersey, according to Rivals.
"When something like this happens, you lay out all of the options," Giacone told mynewjerseycentral.com less than 24 hours after former Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano decided to take a job offer with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On Monday, Rutgers promoted interim head coach Kyle Flood to head coach, a move that some thought would help secure verbal commitments.
