Rutgers Football Coaching Search: Steve Addazio, Kyle Flood, Frank Cignetti, Mario Cristobal Strong Candidates, According To Report

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights football program and athletic director Tim Pernetti's search for a new head coach is quickly shaping into form according to the New Jersey Star-Ledger. On Saturday, Mike Vorkunov of The Star-Ledger listed five coaching candidates that are being considered for job

"Of the coaches in consideration right now, Temple coach Steve Addazio, current interim coach Kyle Flood — who interviewed today — and offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti fit that description. Florida International coach Mario Cristobal was a Rutgers assistant from 2001-03 but has spent the majority of his coaching career in Florida."

Vorkunov wrote that all of these candidate have strong ties Northeast football ties that will be key on, hopefully, keeping recruits who have made verbal commitments to Rutgers.

The Scarlet Knights are trying desperately to hang on to verbal commitments three-star wide receiver Leonte Carroo and four-star defensive end Darius Hamilton, who a each from the New Jersey area.
