A meeting has been called by the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and will take place at 2 p.m., perhaps giving credence to a CBS Sports report that Rutgers football coach Greg Schiano has accepted an offer to become the next Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach.
Another report, from NFL.com's Jason La Canfora, said the Buccaneers have begun the process of telling other candidates they have selected Schiano and Schiano is in line to accept the offer, but the deal is not yet official.
Schiano's reported appointment as the successor to Raheem Morris comes as a surprise. His name was not mentioned as a potential candidate throughout the whole interview process, as names such as Mike Sherman, Rob Chudzinski and Chip Kelly -- who actually accepted the job briefly before changing his mind to return to Oregon -- were noted in the press.
