College Football Rankings 2012: Rutgers Just Misses Top 25 In Look Ahead To Next Season

The Alabama Crimson Tide has barely had time to celebrate the 2011-2012 national championship the team just won. Well, then again they are college students and they were in New Orleans, so maybe they have had plenty of time.

Anyway, attention is already turning to the 2012 season, and SI.com is out with an admittedly way-too-early-top 25. It's all well and good that SI's Andy Staples has just-dominated LSU rebounding and being No. 1, and USC with Matt Barkley at quarterback No. 2. Staples has Alabama at No. 5 in his preseason predictions.

We don't care about that. Where is Rutgers, that is what we want to know. The Scarlet Knights barely missed Staples' early top 25, finishing as one of the 'next five' teams just outside the top 25. Syracuse University is nowhere to be found, thanks for asking.

Rutgers is coming off a successful 9-4 season that was highlighted by a Pinstripe Bowl victory over Iowa State.
