The Syracuse Orange defeated the DePaul Blue Demons 87-68 at Allstate Arena on Sunday. The win was the 15th in a row to start the season. The Orange will remain No. 1 in the polls tomorrow.
After racing out to a 45-26 lead at halftime, the Orange kept plugging away in the second half and was able to empty the bench in the final minute. Their shooting percentage at half was 66%. The finished the game shooting 57.6%. DePaul finally made a three-point attempt in the second half after missing all eight in the first half. They finished with four threes out of 19 attempts.
Fabricio Melo had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks for the Orange. Kris Joseph scored 13 of his team-leading 22 points in the first half for Syracuse. Five players scored in double figures for Syracuse. Cleveland Melvin led the Blue Demons with 23 points and 8 rebounds.
