Former Rutgers University safety Joe Lefeged has succeeded in his bid to make the Indianapolis Colts' 2011 season-opening roster as an undrafted free agent. Lefeged turned his versatility not only as a defensive back, but as a potential kick and punt returner, into a spot on the Indianapolis roster.
In four preseason games, Lefeged made 14 tackles. He returned two punts for 10 yards and led Indianapolis in kickoff returns with four returns for 103 yards, an average of 25.8 yards per return.
Several other former Scarlet Knights were also vying for roster spots on NFL teams. SB Nation's Rutgers website, On The Banks, tracked those players over the weekend as cuts were made. Use OTB's tracker to see who made it and who did not.
Former New York Giants center Shaun O'Hara, released at the beginning of training camp, still has not signed with an NFL team. O'Hara reportedly is still not healthy enough to play following a 2010 season in which he battled foot and ankle injuries.
