Rutgers Football Preseason: Scarlet Knights Scrimmage Saturday

Rutgers University football fans get their first real look at the Scarlet Knights on Saturday when the team will go through its first scrimmage.

Rutgers is hoping to bounced back this season after an awful 2010 campaign that saw the team go 1-6 in Big East Conference play and 4-8 overall. Rutgers lost its final six games. Coach Greg Schiano's Scarlet Knights return 17 starters this fall, so that should be a good starting point toward a better 2011.

Rutgers got no respect from voters in a recent preseason rankings poll, placing seventh among the eight teams in the conference. Conference coaches think Rutgers will finish last.

The Scarlet Knights open the regular season Sept. 1 with a 7:30 p.m. home game vs. North Carolina Central.
