The Rutgers Scarlet Knights trail the No. 10 Florida Gators 34-30 at halftime from the Louis Brown Athletic Center.
The Gators jumped out to a 10-2 lead through the 15:59 mark of the first half. Florida had a chance to extend the lead to 13-2 but missed their shot. Gilvydas Biruta drained a three to start a quick 10-4 run to get the game close again.
The Gators extended their lead to 7 points before Rutgers was able to tie the game at 21 at the 8:06 mark with good defense and clutch shooting. Rutgers' defense forced eight Gators' turnovers in the first half and held Florida to just two field goals in the last 10:22 of the half.
Eli Carter led the Scarlet Knights with 10 points and 4 rebounds in the first half. Erik Murphy had a hot shooting first half to lead the Gators with 10 points (2-3 from behind the arc).
