2011 Bowl Projections: Rutgers Football Pinstripe Bowl Bound

Despite falling to the University of Connecticut, 40-22, and failing to earn its first Big East Conference title Saturday, the Rutgers University football program is still in the hunt for a quality bowl invitation according to multiple bowl projections. Currently, the Scarlet Knights (8-4, 4-3 Big East), who do not have anymore games left on their regular-season schedule, are pegged for the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, Dec. 31, at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

ESPN.com's Andrea Adelson and CBSSports.com's Jerry Palm both have Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl in their latest bowl projections. Palm has the Scarlet Knights playing the Big 12 Conference's the University of Missouri in the house that George Steinbrenner built.

If Rutgers is invited to play in the Pinstripe Bowl it could also face the Big 12's Baylor University, the University of Texas or Iowa State University.
