Bowl projections 2012: Rutgers possibly headed to Belk Bowl

The most recent bowl predictions have No. 23 Rutgers facing Virginia Tech in the 2012 Belk Bowl. Syracuse is still two wins away from postseason eligibility with three games left to play.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are currently No. 23 in the BCS rankings, second in the Big East and, at 7-1, have already become bowl eligible. According to the latest SB Nation bowl predictions, Rutgers will be squaring off against an ACC foe in the postseason, just a couple days before the new year.

SB Nation's lastest projections have Rutgers finishing as the Big East's third-place team and playing in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, N.C. If the current predictions held, the Scarlet Knights would face the Virginia Tech Hokies from the ACC.

Rutgers' remaining schedule consists of games against Army, Cincinnati, Pitt and No. 9 Louisville.

The Syracuse Orange are not included in SB Nation's bowl projections, but two more wins would make them bowl eligible. The Orange, currently fourth in the Big East with a 4-5 record, have a tough schedule ahead, needing two wins in games against No. 9 Louisville, Missouri and Temple, to qualify for postseason selection.
