The Rutgers Scarlet Knights missed an opportunity Saturday to clinch the Big East Conference title and a BCS bowl berth by losing to Pitt, 27-6. Here is some of the immediate post-game reaction:
Rutgers coach Kyle Flood:
On the focus of his team ...
"I thought we had an excellent practice week ... it didn't show up on game day," Flood said. "To me we had a focused football team, we just didn't execute."
On the fact that the team still earned part of the Big East title ...
"Silver linings to me I don't have much use for them. For us we're disappointed in how we played today. We need to play better."
Rutgers linebacker Khaseem Greene:
On Saturday's outcome ...
"Everybody was excited, hyped up. They just came out and beat us."
Here is a little tidbit on the Big East possibilities at this point.
"This just in, via Cincinnati sports info: "If Louisville beats Rutgers Thursday and Cincinnati beats Connecticut Saturday, there would be a four-way tie for the BIG EAST title between Cincinnati, Louisville, Rutgers and Syracuse at 5-2."
