Rutgers vs. UConn odds and predictions: Scarlet Knights favored by a touchown

The No. 22 Rutgers Scarlet Knights host the 3-2 UConn Huskies, a game in which they're favored to win by seven points or more.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have excelled in the post-Greg Schiano era, earning a No. 22 ranking with a 4-0 record to this point, including wins over Arkansas and South Florida in their past two games. Admittedly, a win over Arkansas this year doesn't carry its usual luster, but the Scarlet Knights are riding high going into their Big East home opener and playing host to the UConn Huskies.

The high watermark of UConn's season to this point has been a sound beating of the Maryland Terrapins in the famed Edsall Bowl, but past that, there's not much to write home from Storrs about. The Huskies lost to Western Michigan Sept. 22 and N.C. State in their toughest game yet, 10-7, Sept. 8. Anything can happen in Big East play, but the Huskies are big underdogs going into this one.

The Knights are favored by 7 points pretty much across the board after opening as 8-point favorites. Yahoo!'s experts, Pat Forde and Graham Watson, have picked Rutgers as the winner and six out of seven CBS writers have Rutgers coming out ahead, with only Jerry Hinnen the outlier. However, five of the seven CBS writers have UConn covering a 9.5-point spread, which is, in reality, 2.5 points too big.
