NCAA football rankings: Rutgers drops out of AP Poll's top 25

Saturday's disappointing 35-23 loss to the Kent St. Golden Flashes had an impact on more than the win-loss columns for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football program. On Sunday, Rutgers (7-1) was voted out of the AP Poll's top 25 after being ranked No. 19 last week. The Scarlet Knight remained in the USA Today Coaches' Poll.

Rutgers dropping out means only the Louisville Cardinals (No. 12) are the only Big East Conference member remaining in the rankings. The Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats, 34-31, at home. Both Louisville and Rutgers still remain unbeaten in Big East play.

Overall, four of the top five teams remained the same. The only changes made was the Kansas St. Wildcats and Notre Dame Fighting Irish moving up to No. 3 and 4, respectively. Both teams benefited from victories and the Florida Gators (No. 8) losing and falling out of the top 5. The Alabama Crimson Tide remained No. 1 while the Oregon Ducks are still No. 2.
