If Aaron Berry knows his body as well as he hopes, then the Jets may have dodged another blow to their already injury-ravaged secondary.

New York Jets cornerback Aaron Berry left Sunday's game with a strained quad but he believes he'll be "alright," according to the Star Ledger's Conor Orr.

Berry suffered the injury in the third quarter and did not return. Head coach Rex Ryan didn't know the severity of the injury when asked but Berry didn't seem too worried when he was questioned personally.

Then again, with the Jets having a short turnaround this week thanks to their Thanksgiving game, it's possible that they might elect to hold Berry out. New York's secondary would be spread quite thin against the Patriots' high-flying attack if Berry is forced to rest, as they already have cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Isaiah Trufant on injured reserve.

In other injury news, defensive lineman Kenrick Ellis left Sunday's game briefly with a knee injury but later returned, signalling that he should be good to go for the Jets' Turkey Day showdown against New England.

The Jets moved to 4-6 with a 27-13 win over the Rams. Here's The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

A win! It had been 35 days since the Jets' last one, but New York is 4-6 after a one-sided 27-13 win over the St. Louis Rams. It's a short week with the Jets hosting the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving night in a suddenly crucial and exciting game, but let's put a cap on Sunday's victory before we move forward.

[Muhammad Wilkerson unsung hero | Mark Sanchez 'sharp' in victory]

The Good

While his stat line isn't going to make anyone go crazy, Mark Sanchez played one his best games in a long time. Given his struggles and career-long ball security issues, it's pleasantly surprising when Sanchez plays a mistake-free game as he did on Sunday. He was accurate, efficient and in command all day long. His already high completion percentage would have been even better if not for a few (predictable, at this point) drops. When I was watching this game, I thought to myself that Sanchez's performance was very Chad Pennington-like. While Sanchez doesn't have the intelligence and accuracy that Pennington did, that wouldn't be a bad guy for Sanchez to emulate going forward given how he's played most of this season and last.

Bilal Powell had 42 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, again having a higher yards-per-carry than starter Shonn Greene. Particularly Powell's second touchdown, a six yard draw on third down, was a run I don't believe Greene converts for a score. While Powell isn't likely a starter in the league, he's more aggressive, more athletic and has better vision than Greene. Thinking progressively, it may not be a bad idea to make Powell the starter the rest of the season to see what you've got with him. We already know what Greene is (hint: not a starting-level back).

The Jets' defense played one of their best games of the season, causing three turnovers. Most impressively was that the Jets applied pressure on the quarterback for the second straight week. They only had one sack of Sam Bradford, but they were in his face all day. Muhammad Wilkerson is quietly putting together a very, very good second season, and is beginning to validate his first round pick status. As is Quinton Coples, who is rightly getting more playing time. There's really no reason Coples shouldn't play almost every snap the rest of the way.

Oh Brian Schottenheimer, how we've missed you! It was refreshing to see you throw 44 times against a good pass defense and totally ignore your running back who was averaging over six yards per carry. What brilliant memories returned when we saw Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson run four yard out patterns so close to each other that they could have been holding hands the whole time. Have fun with that, St. Louis.

[Complete Jets-Rams StoryStream]

The Bad

Real quickly on this whole Bart Scott media ban and what not. Some reports made it seem like it was a legitimate thing, others said it was a joke. Either way, can Bart Scott just please shut up? Thanks. Plus he's so slow that he got caught by Matthew Mulligan at the 20 yard line after scooping up a fumble with nobody to beat to the end zone. Matthew Mulligan! Probably a surefire sign that you should start negotiating your contract with the NFL network or WWE now Bart, before it's too late.

When I see Tim Tebow go for negative six total yards on five plays, the thought that comes to mind TOTALLY is "The Jets really need to use this guy more, if not make him the starting quarterback."

The Ugly

What has happened to the Jets' special teams? The usually ultra-reliable unit has been awful this season, and the futility continued on Sunday with another blocked field goal and another long kick return against. Folk also missed a makeable field goal late in the game, but its hard to get on him since he has had a great season. But in general the Jets' special teams has been a disaster this season, and to have another field goal blocked is inexcusable.

In summation, nobody is going to throw a parade for the Jets beating the Rams, but a win is a win and the Jets need 'em. If they somehow find a way to beat the Patriots on Thursday, only then can they start thinking about making any late season run towards the postseason. The biggest takeaway from this game is that when the Jets' defense plays well and Sanchez takes care of the ball, the Jets aren't half bad. But bad teams are inconsistent, as the Jets have been all season. It remains to be seen whether they can bottle up Sunday's performance and have it for the rest of the season.

Muhammad Wilkerson and the Jets took care of business in St. Louis on Sunday.

The New York Jets desperately needed a win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, and they got exactly that with a 27-13 victory.

New York looked a bit shaky early on, but then it got rolling. Behind a very good defensive effort and a solid game by Mark Sanchez, the Jets were able to overwhelm St. Louis to run their record to 4-6.

One man who really stood out on defense was Muhammad Wilkerson, as talked about over at Gang Green Nation:

Muhammad Wilkerson went 3-1 with a sack and a forced fumble, but his stat sheet from the game really doesn't do him justice. Wilks was a force to be reckoned with on and behind the line, and his forced fumble that Bart Scott returned 38 yards changed the game momentum in the Jets favor, and it never swung back. Wilkerson is coming up fast and is starting to show signs of really breaking out.

[Muhammad Wilkerson this week's unsung hero]

The article also talks about Sanchez's nice effort:

Mark Sanchez slowly and quietly built a pretty darn good day, going 15 for 20 for 178 yards, a touchdown and no turnovers. On a day where Sanchez experienced little pressure from Tebow or elsewhere, he looked sharp and on target with his passes. Mark did lack poise and collapse under pressure a few times, he even got lucky that some loose balls weren't turnovers, but overall it was a pleasant surprise from the 4th year QB.

All in all, it was a necessary win for a team that has been under an incredible amount of fire all year. Many people thought New York would be buried on this road trip, but instead it found a little bit of life.

Now, Thanksgiving night looms very large with the AFC East-leading New England Patriots coming into MetLife Stadium.

The Jets gave their season a lifeline, beating the hapless Rams 27-13 to move to 4-6.

The New York Jets kept their razor-thin playoff hopes alive with a dominant 27-13 road victory over the St Louis Rams to move to 4-6 on the season. Quarterback Mark Sanchez played one of his more solid games of the season, completing 15 of his 20 passes for 178 yards and threw for the Jets' first offensive touchdown in more than two full games when he connected with Chaz Schilens on a 25-yard score in the second quarter. Bilal Powell scored the first two touchdowns of his career, helping a Jets' rushing attack then went for 124 yards.

The Jets' defense, facing a Rams offense coached by New York's former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, stifled the Rams all day. They held Sam Bradford to 170 yards on 44 attempts, putting consistent pressure on the signal caller all day. New York forced three turnovers, one interception of Bradford by Eric Smith in the second quarter, and two fumbles, one by Bradford.

Although the final score was lopsided, it took the Jets a bit of a while to get going, and for a while it seemed like the same old story of the 2012 season. St. Louis went on top, 7-0, driving down the field with relative ease late in the first quarter, as Bradford hooked up with Brandon Gibson on a one-yard touchdown on a fourth down. Then, after Smith's interception, Nick Folk had a field goal blocked for the second time this season.

But it was Sanchez's big play to Schilens that turned the game around, and it's been a long time coming. The Jets' embattled quarterback has played poorly all season and with the media firestorm surrounding his backup, Tim Tebow (who had -6 total yards on the day), Sanchez needed a good game more than anyone else. He certainly stepped it up on Sunday against the Rams, even if his final stat line isn't going to jump out. If Sanchez can play that type of efficient, mistake-free game from here on out, he'll quell any questions about the starting job being his.

Next up for the 4-6 Jets is a Thanksgiving night showdown with the 7-3 division-rival New England Patriots.

Mark Sanchez has 118 yards passing and a touchdown for New York through two quarters.

The New York Jets hold a 13-7 lead over the St. Louis Rams at halftime of Sunday's game.

The Jets took the lead when Mark Sanchez hit Chaz Schilens for a 25-yard touchdown down the right side with 4:31 left in the first half. It put the Jets up, 10-7.

Nick Folk gave the Jets their first points with a 51-yard field goal with 44 seconds left in the first quarter. He added another 51-yarder with 57 seconds to play in the first half to make it 13-7.

Mark Sanchez has been strong for the Jets so far. He's completed 9-of-13 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown.

The Rams opened the scoring in the final four minutes of the first quarter. Sam Bradford hit Brandon Gibson for a 1-yard touchdown to put St. Louis up 7-0.

St. Louis' Chris Givens had a kick return for a touchdown late in the first half but it was called back because of a penalty. The Rams were forced to punt.

The Rams put themselves in a bad position in the first half, surrendering two turnovers. Both came from Bradford, who fumbled and threw an interception to Eric Smith.

All you need to know as the Jets travel to St. Louis to face the Rams.

Raise your hand if you have heard this one before: the New York Jets face a must-win game this afternoon on the road versus the St. Louis Rams. With a short week before hosting the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving Night, a loss to the Rams would leave the Jets staring 3-8 in the face with Brady and Co. in town on Turkey Day.

Gang Green is 3-9 in their last 12 games dating back to last year and have not won in 34 days, though for the organization and its fans, it must seem longer than that. The team has been distracted all week after anonymous players ripped Tim Tebow in a Daily News article, general manager Mike Tannenbaum was lit up by WFAN host Mike Francesa on Friday and Jets legend Joe Namath contended that the team is more interested in winning headlines than football games.

If that does not qualify this game as a must-win, what does?

Offenseless in Seattle
Last week versus the Seahawks, Gang Green’s offense was non-existent, with the team scoring their only points on a Muhammad Wilkerson fumble return. Mark Sanchez completed less than 50 percent of his passes yet again, Tebow was a non-factor and Shonn Greene could not establish anything in the running game. The Jets defense did not play a bad game, but a couple of big-play touchdowns was the death knell for a team whose offense was playing so poorly.

"Desperate For a Win"
Ryan said earlier in the week that the Jets needed this win maybe more than any other win since he has been head coach. And he may be right. Making the game even more interesting is that the Rams 24th ranked offense is run by former Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer — his Jets successor Tony Sparano’s unit is ranked No. 30 in the league. Maybe even this week Tebow is finally unleashed.

This has the makings of one of those games that end up being a shootout even though nothing in the stats indicates it should be. The Jets success will depend on Sanchez and how accurately he delivers the football and the quickness of his decision-making.

Defensively, the Jets have not been able to stop the run all season, and the Rams boast one of the better backs in the league in Stephen Jackson. Antonio Cromartie and the Jets secondary will have to shut down receiver Danny Amendola, who despite his size and lack of big play ability, seems to always have 10 catches and close to 100 yards.

State of the Jets
Bilal Powell (concussion) is expected to play, according to Ryan, as is Jeremy Kerley, who did not practice on Friday. Joe McKnight is questionable, along with Sione Po’uha and Bart Scott, though they are all expected on the field this afternoon.

STATS
Passing
Jets: Sanchez -- 1,860 yards, 10 TDs, 9 INTs
Rams: Bradford -- 2,072 yards, 10 TDs, 7 INTs

The Jets will look to get back on track on the road in St. Louis this week.

The New York Jets visit their second-straight NFC West opponent when they travel to St. Louis to take on the Rams in Week 11. The Jets will try to snap a three-game losing streak going into into the game against the Rams, who are winless in their last four games.

St. Louis nearly upset division-rival San Francisco on the road last week, but instead came out with a rare tie after neither team could score in the overtime period. The Rams last win came in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals. That moved the team to 3-2 on the year and one game out of first place. St. Louis is now three games out of first and clinging to fading playoff hopes.

The Jets are also on the verge of starting to "wait until next year," as they have won just three of their first nine games. Both teams desperately need a win to stay in playoff talk, and the loser might be essentially eliminated from contention.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on CBS.

Wide receiver Jeremy Kerley and linebacker Bart Scott are listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams

Injuries have been a weekly issue for the New York Jets and their coaching staff to manage through, including this week where 19 players have been listed on the team's injury report as the Jets prepare for their game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

Five of the 19 are listed as questionable for Sunday's game, headlined by wide receiver Jeremy Kerley for the offense and linebacker Bart Scott on the defensive side.

After fully participating in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, Kerley did not practice on Friday because of a bothersome heel/hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Bart Scott's lingering toe injury forced the veteran linebacker into limited participation in practice this week.

Backup running backs Joe McKnight (ankle) and Bilal Powell (concussion) are also listed as questionable for Sunday's game.

Several other key players found themselves on Friday's injury report, but are probable to play on Sunday. That includes quarterback Mark Sanchez (back) and center Nick Mangold (ankle/thumb), both of whom participated in practice fully this week.

Opposing the Jets on Sunday will be the St. Louis Rams, who only have a few injury concerns they will need to work through. The team listed just four players on Friday's injury report, including linebacker Mario Haggan, and all four are questionable for the game.
