LeBron James nearly notched a triple-double in a 103-73 Miami Heat victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

The Miami Heat's early-season home dominance continued on Wednesday night, as the defending champs smashed the Brooklyn Nets, 103-73, at American Airlines Arena. The Heat moved to 4-1 overall and 4-0 at home, where they have won by an average margin of nearly 18 points per game.

Miami led almost the entire way through, opening up a nine-point lead at halftime before blowing things open in the third quarter. The Heat outscored Brooklyn 29-15 in the third and cruised the rest of the way.

LeBron James nearly notched a triple-double, putting up 20 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in 30 minutes. Dwyane Wade was brilliant as well, scoring 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting. Rashard Lewis scored 13 points off the bench for Miami.

Brooklyn lost their second straight game playing without injured starter Gerald Wallace. Kris Humphries had a double-double in the loss, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 boards. Deron Williams led the Nets with 14 points, but he turned the ball over seven times.

Brooklyn dropped to 1-2 on the season.

Defending champs welcome the Nets to South Beach.

The excitement from the Brooklyn Nets winning their first-ever game at the Barclays Center quickly disappeared Monday when they lost to the short-handed Minnesota Timberwolves despite a 22-point second half lead.

The good news for head coach Avery Johnson and his players is they didn't have to sit around and sulk while getting hit with a snow storm. Instead they were able to take their talents to South Beach! The bad news is they have to play the defending champion Miami Heat while they are there.

When you are reeling from an embarrassing loss and trying to get things back on track, you don't want to have to try and do it against the best player in the planet. And so far this season LeBron James has shown no signs of being anything other than just as good or better than he was last year during his MVP campaign.

Miami are the highest scoring team in the league through four games, averaging 121 points per game, with James leading the way with 23 points to go along with 9.3 rebounds and five assists. Not too shabby for a team that still gets every team's best shot night in and night out as they are clearly the favorite to once again win it all.

While stopping the Heat will be a tall task for the Nets, they should be able to keep up offensively, something that was never an option last season. Miami has given up at least 99 points in all four games and will have to try and find a way to account for center Brook Lopez inside. After an impressive 27-point effort in the opener, Lopez was frustrated when the Wolves held him to just 13 points on 5-for-15 shooting.

Deron Williams (18.5 ppg) and Joe Johnson (16.5) have both shown what they can do in Johnson's offensive system, but Brooklyn will once again be without swingman Gerald Wallace thanks to a bum ankle.

You can watch all the action against the defending champs locally on YES or listen on WFAN with tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Next up for the Nets is a home-and-home series with the Orlando Magic starting on Friday night.

The Nets will attempt to beat the defending champs without two key wings, as both Gerald Wallace and Josh Childress have been ruled out with ankle injuries.

It's only the third game of the new Nets' era in Brooklyn, but head coach Avery Johnson is already dealing with some significant injury issues. Both Gerald Wallace and Josh Childress will be out against the Heat.

Brooklyn re-signed Wallace to a hefty new deal in the offseason, but the athletic swing-man sat out Monday night against the Timberwolves with an ankle sprain. That problem has persisted as the week progressed, and he'll be a key missing piece as the Nets try to knock off the defending champs in Miami.

Childress plays a similar role to Wallace, providing athleticism on the wing. He's a better shooter, but both would have come in handy defending LeBron James. Childress is also dealing with an ankle injury. The Nets are coming off a disappointing loss to the Timberwolves that involved a blown 22-point lead in the second half. The loss of both Wallace and Childress on the glass and the defensive end is a big blow to their shot at coming away with a victory.
