Rueben Randle responded to criticism of his work ethic by having the best game of his young NFL career on Sunday, catching six passes.

Last year it was Victor Cruz. So far this year Ramses Barden and Andre Brown have had success stepping in when other players went down. Sunday, it was rookie wide reeiver Rueben Randle with an opportunity to come through in that role and he did, getting 82 yards on six receptions which were both team highs.

The start was ugly, but the finish of Sunday's 41-27 victory over the Cleveland Browns made New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin happy.

After that, though, the defending Super Bowl champion Giants got to work, earning a comfortable 41-27 victory.

Ahmad Bradshaw says he 'ran angry' while compiling 200 yards as the giants defeated the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, 41-27.

In many ways, the New York giuants' 41-27 victory over the Cleveland Browns was typical Giants. Fall behind 14-0 to a winless team not nearly as good as the defending champion Giants, then claw their way back and win a game that turned out to be more difficult than it had to be.

The performance of Ahmad Bradshaw summed it up. Bradshaw responded to a fumble on his first carry that led to a Cleveland touchdown by turning in a career-best 200-yard day on 30 carries, which was also a career high. [Full Bradshaw transcript]

"You know what? We fight back. We play better with our backs to the wall. I started the game off great with the fumble and I just fought back," Bradshaw said. "I stayed hard on myself after the fumble and I wanted to use it with the ball in my hand and I just ran angry today. I'm mad at myself for the fumble."

Bradshaw credited his blockers with helping him have a career performance.

"My hat goes off to my lineman; they did a great job. They couldn't have done any better. There were holes everywhere. All I did was just run and it was a great day, great game and we came out successful," Bradshaw said.

The victory by the Giants was not as easy as the final score might indicate. The Browns scored two touchdowns in the game's first five minutes to take a shocking 14-0 lead. The Giants roared back to take a 27-17 halftime lead, at one point scoring 20 unanswered points in the second quarter.

There were plenty of offensive stars for the Giants.

- Victor Cruz caught three touchdown passes and had five receptions for 50 yards total.

- Rookie Rueben Randle had six receptions for 82 yards.

- Domenik Hixon caught five passes for 55 yards.

- Manning completed 25-of-37 for 259 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

- David Wilson ran 40 yards for his first NFL touchdown.

The Giants took control of the game in the second quarter. With the Giants trailing 17-10 safety Stevie Brown intercepted a pass by Cleveland quarterback Brandon Weeden on third-and-one from the Giants' 25-yard line. Brown returned the ball to the Cleveland 40.

It took only two plays for the Giants to score, a 36-yard pass to Randle and 4-yard run by Bradshaw.

Cleveland's Josh Cribbs fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Brown was again on the spot, recovering and returning it to the Browns' 29-yard line. Five plays later the Giants took their first lead on a 7-yard pass from Manning to Cruz with 1:16 left in the half. The Giants never looked back from there.

Josh Cribbs nearly matched the Giants touchdown on the following kickoff 74 yards to the Giants 30-yardline. The Browns, however, were unable to capitalize as they gained just seven yards setting up Phil Dawson for a 41-yard field goal.

Manning has completed 22-of-33 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Ahmad Bradshaw has provided a strong running game for New York, rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Bradshaw was strong in the third quarter, gaining 51 yards.

Cleveland was driving for another potential score, but Giants safety Stevie Brown intercepted Brandon Weeden and returned it into Cleveland territory.

Eli Manning hit Rueben Randle for 36 yards, setting up Ahmad Bradshaw for a 4-yard touchdown run to tie the game.
New York didn't waste any time, scoring five plays later. Manning found Victor Cruz in the end zone for the second time in the game to give the Giants the 24-17 lead. Cleveland was forced to punt, and New York took over with just 17 second to play, but a 12-yard Bradshaw run and a pass interference penalty set up Lawrence Tynes for a 40-yard field goal.

Cruz has just three catches for 18 yards in the first half, but has scored two touchdowns. Manning has thrown for 179 yards in the first half while Bradshaw has rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

New York Giants running back Andre Brown has left Sunday's game with a head injury, suffered during a kickoff return.

Andre Brown has left the field in New York, heading to the locker room with an apparent head injury.

Entering Sunday's game with 198 yards rushing and three touchdowns, Brown has been a pleasant surprise for the Giants while the team deals with injuries to starting back Ahmad Bradshaw. His breakout game came in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers, where Brown impressed on Thursday Night Football by running for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

In his absence it will fall on rookie David Wilson, who has struggled this season with fumble issues. Thus far, head coach Tom Coughlin has been loath to lean on Wilson too much, giving him just six carries on the season. In 2012 he has coughed the ball up once in regular season play, which is a cited concern in his scouting report. However, given that Ahmad Bradshaw has had fumbling issues of his own on Sunday, it won't be quite the same liability to play Wilson against the Browns.

The New York Giants trail the Cleveland Browns, 14-7, after the first quarter of Sunday's game.

The game got off to a rough start for the Giants as Ahmad Bradshaw fumbled on the Giants' first offensive play, and Cleveland recovered at the Giants 22-yard line. Cleveland running back Trent Richardson needed just two carries to get into the end zone and give Cleveland an early 7-0 lead.

The Browns extended their lead to 14-0 on their next possession when Brandon Weeden hit Josh Gordon deep for a 62-yard touchdown. After fumbling and punting on their first two possessions, the Giants finally got some offense going on their third possession. New York went 92 yards on 11 plays, culminating in a 3-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz.

With Hakeem Nicks out with an injury, the Giants are in need of a receiver to step up and complement Cruz. Early on, Rueben Randle has been able to fill that role. Randle caught four passes for 42 yards in the first quarter. All four of his catches came during the Giants' touchdown drive.

The Browns will have the ball when the second quarter begins, as they are driving in Giants' territory.
