The New York Mets lost to the San Diego Padres by a score of 3-1 Friday night, giving up the go-ahead run in the seventh when Carlos Quentin barreled in to catcher Josh Thole, knocking the ball loose and putting the Padres ahead.

R.A. Dickey collected 10 strikeouts on the night and had an exceptional first half, holding the Padres to only one hit and one run until the seventh. With the game tied 1-1 the bottom of that inning saw Quentin reach on a single and then score on a Yonder Alonso double after Thole could not hold on to the ball. John Baker singled to score Alonso, leaving the score at 3-1, where it would stay.

The Mets sole RBI came in the fourth when Ronny Cedeno reached on an infield single, scoring David Wright. They might have added more, but Scott Hairston was thrown out trying to advance to third on the play.

The Mets fall to 52-55 with the loss, and Dickey's record drops to 14-3. They'll look to rebound in Game 2 of the three game series, scheduled for Saturday at 8:35 p.m. ET.
