The New York Yankees won Game 3 against the New York Mets, 6-5, to clinch the Subway Series at Citi Field on Sunday night. R.A. Dickey struggled with the command of his knuckleball, and saw his streak without allowing an earned run end after 44 2/3 innings. He gave up five runs, all earned, off five hits and three walks in six innings, striking out three.

CC Sabathia was even shakier. He was pulled with one out left in the in the sixth inning after giving up an Andres Torres two-RBI single to bring the Mets back within one run, 5-4. Sabathia gave up nine hits and two walks while striking out three.

Sabathia gave up five runs in his stint on the mound, but only one earned thanks to some poor defense by the Yankees. Torres stole second, then advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Chance Stewart in the third inning. Ruben Tejada then scored Torres on a sac fly to put the Mets on the board. In the sixth inning, Justin Turner was safe at first after Robinson Cano's throw went awry. He later scored on Torres' single.

The Yankees' offense was in fine form, however. They took a 4-0 lead in the third inning. Mark Teixeira ended Dickey's streak on a sac fly with the bases loaded, scoring Curtis Granderson. Nick Swisher blasted his 11th home run of the season to center field on the next at-bat, scoring Alex Rodriguez and Cano. The Yankees held a 5-1 lead into the middle of the fifth inning after Teixeira drove in Granderson yet again on a fielder's choice ground ball to second base.

The Met promptly stormed back. They added one run in the bottom of the fifth on a David Wright single to left, scoring Dickey. Tejada singled to score Vinny Rottino off Yankees pitcher Cory Wade in the sixth inning. Wade had just stepped to the mound in place of Sabathia. The run tied the game, 5-5, going into the seventh.

Cano sealed the game in the eighth inning with yet another home run for the Yankees. Cano sent the ball well past the center field fence, 440 feet from the plate. The homer was Cano's 16th on the year. Miguel Batista (1-2) earned the loss for giving up the blast. He gave up two hits and struck out two in his two innings of work.

Boone Logan (2-0) earned the win after striking out two in 1 1/3 innings from the start of the seventh. Rafael Soriano notched his 15th save of the year after allowing one hit and striking out one in the midst of a downpour during the bottom of the ninth. Lucas Duda was left on first base as Ike Davis flied out to right to end the game.

Wright extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Raul Ibanez went 3-for-4 on the night. Derek Jeter went 0-for-5.

The New York Yankees ended R.A. Dickey's streak without allowing an earned run at 44 2/3 innings during Sunday's Game 3 of the Subway Series at Citi Field. Mark Teixeira hit a sac fly off the New York Mets starter with the bases loaded in the third inning to score Curtis Granderson.

Dickey struck out Derek Jeter to start the inning. He walked Granderson, however, then gave up an infield single to Alex Rodriguez. Dickey walked Robinson Cano to load the bases, setting up Teixeira.

After Teixeira's at-bat, Nick Swisher stepped up to the plate and banged a three-run home run to center to put the Yankees up 4-0. Swisher has 11 homers on the year.

Dickey has struggled mightily with his command at times. He nearly beaned Rodriguez in the first inning when his normally dependable knuckleball broke much more than expected.

One night after failing to recover from an early deficit, the New York Yankees again found themselves scrambling to complete a comeback on Saturday. This time around, they were successful, defeating the New York Mets by a final score of 4-3.

Center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit his seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the third, a solo shot that gave the Mets an early lead. An inning later, left fielder Scott Hairston scored off a grounder by catcher Josh Thole. Starting pitcher Chris Young made it 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single that scored Daniel Murphy.

The Yankees took the lead in the top of the seventh thanks to two home runs — the first was a three-run shot by left fielder Raul Ibanez, scoring first baseman Mark Teixeira and right fielder Nick Swisher. Later in the inning, pinch hitter Eric Chavez blasted his fifth homer of the season to give the Yankees a 4-3 advantage.

Ibanez hit his game-tying home run off Mets starter Chris Young, a ball that just cleared the fence in the right-field corner of Citi Field Reliever Jon Rauch (3-7) took the loss, allowing Chavez game-winning opposite field blast.

The Mets were unable to string together any runs after losing control of the lead. David Wright mustered a single in the bottom of the ninth inning but Yankees reliever Rafael Soriano closed the game with two strikeouts and got Daniel Murphy to fly out.

The win improves the Yankees record to 42-28 on the season, while the Mets fall to 39-33.

The Subway Series continues on Saturday at Citi Field as the New York Yankees look to bounce back against the New York Mets after their third consecutive loss on Friday. (Game Time: 7:15 p.m. ET, TV Schedule: Fox)

The Mets scored all the runs they would need in the first inning Friday, batting around to push five baserunners across home plate before the Yankees could muster three outs. Andy Pettitte settled down after his disastrous opening inning to make it through five more innings without allowing another run, but the Mets had already done enough damage and held on for a 6-4 win.

The Yankees have followed a season-high 10-game winning streak by matching their longest losing streak of the season. The Yankees turn to Ivan Nova on Saturday to stop the bleeding. The righty is an amazing 12-0 over his last 15 road starts.

The Mets counter with Chris Young, who hasn't pitched against the Yankees since 2005. A victory would push the Mets eight games over .500, matching their best mark of the season.

The New York Mets defeated the New York Yankees 6-4 on Friday night, taking the first game of the Subway Series at Citi Field. The Mets batted around the order in the bottom of the first, collecting five runs on five hits and giving them enough of a lead to last through the game. Justin Turner picked up two RBI on a double, and Ike Davis added the rest of the runs in the inning with a three-run home run. Davis' home run glanced off the glove of leaping Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher and bounced over the wall.

Andy Pettitte (3-3) of the Yankees settled down following the first and only gave up two additional hits. Alex Rodriguez put the Yankees on the board in the sixth with a solo home run. Andruw Jones added another solo shot in the seventh, and Robinson Cano hit a two-run home run in the eighth. That was all the Yankees could muster, and with the Mets collecting an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI double by David Wright, they had the game in hand.

Jonathan Niese improved up to 5-3, tossing 6 1/3 innings, striking out five while allowing one run on eight hits a walk. The Yankees were surely itching to get a shot at Frank Francisco given his calling them "chickens," but he was able to pick up his 18th save, despite giving up a hit and a walk in the inning. The Mets improved to 39-32, while the Yankees fall to 41-28. The second game of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 7:15 p.m. ET.

The New York Mets have activated shortstop Ronny Cedeno from the 15-day disabled list and placed him in the lineup on Friday night against the New York Yankees. The team also announced that they optioned right-handed pitcher Elvin Ramirez to Triple-A Buffalo.

Cedeno had been battling a strained left calf and did a rehab stint with Buffalo. Before the injury, Cedeno hit .231 with one home run, seven RBI and 11 walks in 25 games for the Mets in 2012. Cedeno will bat second tonight against the Yankees.

Ramirez was 0-1 on the season with a 9.00 ERA. In seven innings with the Mets, Ramirez allowed 11 hits, eight walks and seven earned runs while striking out six batters. For Buffalo, Ramirez is 3-0 with one save in one opportunity. He has allowed zero runs, one walk and only five hits in 14 2/3 innings.
