Rasheed Wallace and the Knicks are expected to announce their union Monday during the team's Media Day.

Knicks fans, you're one step closer to having a lot more 'Sheed in your life. According to a report from the New York Post, the New York Knicks are set to announce the signing of Rasheed Wallace on Monday, during the team's media day, before practice begins on Tuesday.

Apparently, Wallace has already been working out with the Knicks during voluntary sessions this past week, according to the Post's Marc Berman. Amar'e Stoudemire, whose minutes figure to lessen a tad with 'Sheed's addition, seemed optimistic. "I don't know if he signed yet but he has looked good from the time he has been with us,'' Stoudemire told The Post yesterday during his visit to Rikers Island to speak with adolescent prisoners. The Post also reported that Tyson Chandler also approved of the addition.

Berman also writes that head coach Mike Wallace was the reason for Wallace's potential decision to come out of retirement; Woodson was an assistant under Larry Brown when the Detroit Pistons, with Wallace, won the NBA title in 2004. If the move comes to fruition, which at this point looks like a certainty, Wallace will become the fourth-oldest player on the Knicks' roster, behind Jason Kidd, Kurt Thomas and Marcus Camby.

The New York Knicks are looking into signing power forward Rasheed Wallace, according to newsday.com.

Wallace last played on the Boston Celtics back in 2010 as a bit player, helping them make a playoff run. Since then, the 38-year-old has been retired but recently was working out for New York.

Head coach Mike Woodson and Wallace have a relationship that dates back to when both were members of the Detroit Pistons, including a 2004 NBA championship.

The Knicks feel they need another defensive presence on the interior to pair with center Tyson Chandler, who can be a top-notch defender but also finds himself in foul trouble often. If acquired, Wallace would certainly be cost-effective and join a bench with the likes of other big-men Kurt Thomas and Marcus Camby.

After losing in the first round of the 2012 NBA playoffs to the Miami Heat, New York is trying to revamp its depth in an attempt to narrow the gap between itself and the elite.

The New York Knicks are interested in adding an additional power forward to the roster in order to create depth. With few options remaining on the free agent market, Kenyon Martin's name has continued to pop up in connection with the team.

However, Martin is not interested in accepting a veteran's minimum salary, which is assumed to be the reason why he hasn't signed with the Knicks yet. In addition, the Boston Celtics are believed to be in the mix for the 34-year-old forward but also want him to take the veteran's minimum.

Martin has insinuated that he would be willing to sit out for a lengthy period of time until he was presented with a non-veteran minimum offer.

The New York Knicks would like to add free agent power forward Kenyon Martin to their ranks, but only if he'll agree to the veteran's minimum, according to ESPN's Marc Stein via Twitter.

The versatile, tough-minded Martin would provide solid depth behind Amare Stoudemire, Kurt Thomas and Carmelo Anthony in the forward spots. In 42 games for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2011-12 season, Martin averaged 5.2 points per game and pulled down 4.3 rebounds while shooting around 44 percent from the floor.

When Martin played in China during the NBA lockout, the Knicks were one of the teams interested in his services upon his return. Ultimately, the top overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft chose to sign with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and the Clippers.

The $1.2 million veteran's minimum, as Stein reported, is the major sticking point, as Martin will likely weigh that against potentially more-enticing offers from other interested organizations.

The New York Knicks have signed center Henry Sims, forward John Shurna, swingman Mychel Thompson and guard Oscar Bellfield on Monday, according to Alex Raskin.

New York is trying to get its training camp roster ready and has done so by acquiring some players to take a look at for a few weeks.

Sims is perhaps the most likely to stick after cuts are made, considering he's a 7-footer who can rebound. A Georgetown Hoyas product, Sims played well last year in college, averaging 11.6 points and six rebounds per game.

Bellfield is a guard who played four season with the UNLV Runnin' Rebels in college. He put up solid numbers while at the program, finishing in the school's all-time top ten in 3-point shooting and assists.

Shurna played with the Northwestern Wildcats and can do one thing very well; shoot from the outside. The rookie isn't much of an inside presence, but does have the ability to stretch the defense.

Thompson has some family ties in the NBA. His brother, Klay, is currently on the Golden State Warriors after being a first-round draft pick.

Mychel Thompson played briefly for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011-12 before being let go.

New York Knicks owner James Dolan met with former coach Isiah Thomas on Friday in what is being described as a "business meeting" by the New York Post.

The meeting took place at the Mandarin Hotel in Midtown. The Post has some details.

A band of security men surrounded the two men who were both dressed in business suits in a quiet corner of the lobby. Thomas has lobbied to return to the organization since he was fired as the Florida International basketball coach last spring. The meeting took place two days after the resignation of MSG sports president Scott O'Neil, who, according to a source, helped convince Dolan rehiring Thomas wasn't a good move for the Knicks brand.

Of course, it isn't likely that Thomas is a candidate for the MSG sports president position, but anything is possible.

The Post speculates that it's feasible that Thomas could return to the team in a coaching consultant role, since Knicks head coach Mike Woodson is short an assistant.

The New York Knicks made headlines on Wednesday morning, unveiling new uniforms that will be worn at the start of the 2012 NBA season and into the future.

Amare Stoudemire joined Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on the program 'Live!' to show off the new look, which can be seen here.

In fact, the new design looks very much like the uniform that was worn back in the heyday of the franchise by greats such as Walt "Clyde" Frazier, Willis Reed and Patrick Ewing. While the general look of the uniform has stayed the same, the differences are noticeable.

The first thing most people will see is the removal of the side striping and any black on both the home or away set, something that was introduced in the late 1990's. While the stripes were passable, many felt it clogged up the jersey a bit.

Another change is the addition of silver to the neckline. It's hard to see from a distance, but up close you can view a silver stripe in the collar and on the shoulder stripes. Speaking of the trim around the shoulder, it doesn't go all the way around the jersey but stops before going underneath the arm.

Finally, the last tweak is the logo above the players' last name. Instead of the "NYK" that has been there since 2002, the Knicks have shown a little ode to their heritage by putting the old 1970's logo in that space (it's also their alternate logo as well).

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony took some time to talk about his teammates Raymond Felton and Amar'e Stoudemire this past week. In a story for ESPNNewYork.com. Anthony touched on his life-long relationship with Felton and his feelings about what Stoudemire brings in the post.

Regarding Felton, Anthony believes he will play better in his second stop with the Knicks because he is determined to silence his doubters:

"He wants to prove everyone wrong," Anthony said. "He loves to win."

Anthony was asked about Stoudemire's post-up abilities, an aspect that has been oft-criticized during his NBA career. Stoudemire spent time this summer working with Hakeem Olajuwon. Anthony says he hasn't seen Amar'e's new talents at work, but is excited for what he can bring to the table this season.

"I'm waiting to see what he has added to his arsenal," he said. "I'm excited for the fact that he went down there and started working with the Dream, so that's a big step forward."

The Knicks have made a number of offseason moves and hope to be vastly improved in the 2012-13 campaign. It appears that the work the front office has done over the summer has succeeded in keeping their superstar happy.
