Should you start LaDainian Tomlinson this weekend in fantasy football because he will start against the San Diego Chargers?

New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson hasn't scored a touchdown since Week Three. He hasn't gained more than 46 all-purpose yards in either of the past three games, gaining 62 combined yards in those games. During that same three-week span, he has accumulated just twelve carries and five receptions. But Tomlinson will start Sunday for the New York Jets because they are playing his former team, the San Diego Chargers.

All of which begs the question: Is he worth starting this weekend in fantasy football?

The answer really comes down to two key factors:

1) Is Rex Ryan giving Tomlinson a token start, like a bench-warming senior on senior night, or will Tomlinson shoulder the load of carries for the entire game?

2) Since we don't know exactly how Ryan plans to use Tomlinson, are you comfortable leaving him in the lineup, knowing how diminished his role has been lately, knowing he hasn't been a factor in fantasy football in three weeks, knowing that numberFire projections predict Tomlinson will tally just 3.58 points on Sunday?

As a (not-so-proud) fantasy owner of Tomlinson, I implore you not to risk your fantasy weekend on a running back whose opportunities have lately gone to Shonn Greene. I encourage you to wonder whether Rex Ryan would really keep his second-stringer in the lineup all game, knowing how badly the 3-3 Jets need a win. I ask you to ponder whether the risk is worth the potential reward.

And then I leave you with the opinion of Tomlinson's former teammate, Lorenzo Neal.

"LT has been looking forward to this game," said Neal, who said he speaks to his former teammate every week or so. "You know San Diego is going to want to save face and try to key on stopping LT, but they don't have the will that he has. There is no way LaDainian Tomlinson won't have a big game Sunday."

Maybe Tomlinson will have a big game after all. Then again, maybe not.

Head over to Gang Green Nation for all your Jets news and analysis.

The New York Jets got a much needed victory on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins last week. It wasn't a banner fantasy day for any Jet in particular, although Mark Sanchez did have one touchdown running, one passing and no interceptions, while Santonio Holmes hauled in a touchdown for the second straight week. The best Jet last week was Darrelle Revis, and his 100-yard touchdown on an interception helped fantasy owners who have the Jets' defense/special teams.

The Jets have another huge game this weekend when they host the San Diego Chargers in what many have termed another must-win for Gang Green. Many fantasy owners find themselves in a similar position as we reach the middle of the season, so here's a primer on which Jets you should start and sit on your fantasy team this week:

Start

WR - Santonio Holmes - numberFire projection: 2.77 receptions, 49.21 yards, 7.03 fantasy points

Holmes has score touchdown in two straight games and that trend could continue. Mark Sanchez has started to look for Holmes when the Jets are in the red zone, and has found some success which is a good thing for Holmes' touchdown numbers. Sanchez seems to be looking for Holmes more, with Derrick Mason shipped out of town and a lack of chemistry with Plaxico Burress. With the Jets' offense continuing to figure itself out, you can't predict huge overall numbers for Holmes, but you'll take a touchdown and 50-60 yards receiving.

Jets D/Special Teams - numberFire projection: 19.64 points allowed, 1.94 sacks, 2.07 turnovers, 8.30 fantasy points

Although the Chargers have a ton of weapons, they have been prone to turning the ball over. That is not a good mix with a Jets defense that has done a great job of taking the ball away. Also, with the emergence of Joe McKnight as a dynamic kickoff returner, he is always a candidate to take one to the house. The Jets' defense/special teams should be an automatic start in most weeks.

TE - Dustin Keller - numberFire projection: 3.52 receptions, 40.05 yards, 0.32 TDs, 5.88 fantasy points

So I guess I'm going against myself after I said last week that you should sit Keller until he has a big week. And he certainly didn't have one last time out against the Dolphins. Call it a hunch, I suppose. I think Keller finds the end zone.

Your Call

QB - Mark Sanchez - numberFire projection: 14.8 completions, 168 yards, 0.94 TDs, 12.9 fantasy points

With bye weeks in full swing, Sanchez could quietly put up a serviceable fantasy week, as he did with a decent effort in Week 6 with 200 yards in the air and two touchdowns (one rushing). If your top QB is out this week, Sanchez is a solid backup play, provided he hangs on to the ball.

Sit

RB - Shonn Greene - numberFire projection: 9.94 carries, 40.85 yards, 0.32 TDs, 7.55 fantasy points

Greene was okay with 75 yards last time around, but he got it on 21 carries and didn't find the end zone. He just can't bust off any big runs, so that keeps his yards totals down. Teams will continue to make Sanchez and the Jets' shaky passing game beat them, and Greene's numbers will suffer from that.

WR - Plaxico Burress - numberFire projection: 2.52 receptions, 32.28 yards, 0.24 TDs, 4.66 fantasy points

Sanchez and Burress have zero chemistry. Plax has been dropping balls and sulking on the field. Sit.
