If the New York Mets have learned anything from their two games against the Colorado Rockies, it's that they might not want to pitch to Troy Tulowitzki and that Willie Harris can still kill them in the field, just not the way they envisioned. Both players stood out in the Rockies 5-4 victory over the Mets Wednesday night.

With his team trailing 3-1, Tulowitzki -- batting with two outs and first base open -- smashed a three-run homer into right field. The star shortstop also added a double and single as he continued his assault New York pitching. Tulowitzki delivered a game-winning homerun in Monday's game as well.

Harris, on the other hand, did everything he could to break the hearts of Mets fans over the last few years, but has already let two catchable balls drop in left field. Against the Rockies on Wednesday night he was also 0-3 on the night including coming up short twice with runners in scoring position and two outs.

Offensively, the New York got RBI doubles from Carlos Beltran and Daniel Murphy. They scored their other two runs on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly as the entire team continued to struggle with runners in scoring position (1-9). After chasing starting pitcher Esmil Rogers in the sixth inning, New York couldn't muster much more than that sacrifice fly against four relievers.

After starter Jonathon Niese gave up five runs in six inning, the Mets bullpen was spotless. Taylor Buchholz, Pedro Beato and D.J. Carrasco combined to throw three scoreless innings.

The Rockies are off to a franchise-best 8-2 start, including four straight wins on the road. Meanwhile, the Mets have lost six of seven following an impressive 3-1 start.

On a chilly, foggy night the team announced a crowd of 25,878 at Citi Field though anything north of 20,000 is being optimistic.

These two teams will close out their four-game series with a single-admission double header Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 12:05pm.

Jon Niese (0-1) takes the hill Tuesday night (7:10 p.m. EST, SNY) for the New York Mets looking to breathe some life into a bullpen that's been extremely shoddy this season. He'll be opposed by Colorado Rockies' 25-year-old Esmil Rogers (1-0).

Niese started out his last outing against the Phillies smoothly, then quickly ran into trouble and pitched only four innings. The Rockies' 7-2 record is the best in their history and currently they're being fueled by an offense that's clicking on all cylinders. If you're going to give them free outs like the Mets did Monday night, guys like Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki will make you pay. The Mets have learned that first hand several times already. Colorado's pitching has also been superb, accumulating a 2.98 ERA and 1.15 WHIP on the season, with a back-end of the bullpen that's been rock solid and extremely tough to beat. The Amazin's need to get to Rogers early in this one. Niese is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in three career starts against the Rockies.

Rogers' debut this season in place of Ubaldo Jimenez went well as he tossed 7 1/3 innings and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out seven. He's got a power arm and a good curveball but his command does waiver at times and he gives up his fair share of hits.

New York's offense hasn't been the major problem this season; it's been its bullpen, which has a 6.57 ERA and is 0-3 over the past six games (five of which the Mets have lost). A lengthy Niese outing would go a long way to limiting the bullpen usage and increasing the chances of a win.
