Multiple media sources are reporting that Jamie Langenbrunner has been traded to the Dallas Stars for a conditional third-round pick in the 2011 draft.

The round of the pick can change depending on the Stars performance. If they advance past the first round of the playoffs, the Devils will receive a second-round pick. Also, if the team re-signs Langenbrunner before July 1, the pick will be upgraded to a second-round selection.

If the Stars re-sign Langenbrunner after July 1, the Devils will acquire the Stars second-round pick and trade Dallas their 2012 third round selection.

Langenbrunner will not play in the Stars' game tonight against the New York Rangers. His first game for Dallas will be Sunday in Minnesota.

Langenbrunner was asked to waive his no-trade clause by Devils' general manager Lou Lamoriello Thursday. Lamoriello wanted the Devils' captain to waive his rights for a few Western Conference teams. Despite Philadelphia's reported interest, Lamoriello did not want to keep Langenbrunner in the Eastern Conference.

Langenbrunner began his career with the Stars in 1994-95, becoming a regular on the roster two seasons later. He won his first Stanley Cup championship during the 1998-1999 season.

On March 19, 2002, the Devils acquired Langenbrunner and current Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk in a deal that sent Jason Arnott, Randy McKay and the Devils 2002 first-round draft pick to Dallas.

Langenbrunner, the eighth captain in Devils history, recorded just 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) this season.

According to Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger, the Philadelphia Flyers offered two picks to the Devils for captain Jamie Langenbrunner.

The year and round of the picks were not disclosed.

The Flyers are an odd trade partner for the Devils. General manager Lou Lamoriello has never traded with Philadelphia in his 23 years with the organization.

Jamie Langenbrunner may have played his last game as a Devil.

Several media members, including Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record, reported today that Langenbrunner and the Devils have discussed waiving his no-trade clause.

Langenbrunner told Gulitti no deal was completed, but he expected to hear something soon.

When asked if he thought he'd played his last game as a Devil, Langenbrunner told Gulitti "It looks like it, but you never know."

The Devils' captain is in the final year of a five-year, $14 million contract he signed on July 1, 2006. The deal includes a full no-trade clause.

Langenbrunner, who was named as the eighth captain in the organization's history on December 5, 2005, has 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) this season. He is closing in on 1,000 career NHL games and has collected 232 goals and 630 assists.

Langenbrunner, a Stanley Cup winner with the Dallas Stars in 1999, came to the Devils from Dallas on March 19, 2002 in a deal in which the Stars acquired Jason Arnott, Randy McKay and the Devils' 2002 first round pick. He won his second Stanley Cup in 2003 with the Devils.

The Devils' captain has a contentious relationship with interim coach Jacques Lemaire. Langenbrunner publicly criticized Lemaire last season when he made him a healthy scratch for an April 3 game against the Carolina Hurricanes. After the season, Langenbrunner criticized Lemaire for mishandling team situations.

Bob McKenzie of The Sporting News tweeted that, if traded, Langenbrunner would like to go to Dallas, St. Louis or San Jose.
