Here are some post-game quotes following the New York Jets’ 29-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings Monday night.

Jets linebacker Bart Scott on the end of the game.

It was getting scary out there man. Mark (Sanchez) was starting to feel it. They have a great quarterback (Brett Favre). That team has a lot of grit and great players and we knew it was going to be a championship mentality and we were not able to capitalize on some of the plays we made earlier to put them away. You let a team like that hang around and he (Favre) keeps slinging the ball to Moss (Randy), it can get real interesting. … We knew that he is a gun slinger and he might throw us one. We planned our technique and believed in it and Dwight (Lowery) was the hero.

Vikings coach Brad Childress.

This was a disappointing loss. We were a good football team playing another good football team. Thirteen points in turnovers is all you need to know in a closely contested game. (That is) not good enough and it starts with me. I didn’t think we were ready coming out of the locker room to play this football game.

Jets cornerback Dwight Lowery on his game-clinching interception and touchdown.

I really can’t describe it. I haven’t ever been in (that) situation before. It’s all really new, so I’m just trying to take it lightly. I made a play and (now it’s time to) go back to work. That’s kind of how I feel. … I just played what I felt, played what I saw and made a break on the ball. The pressure got there and he had to hold the ball a split second more than what he probably wanted to and the rest was
history.

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan.

That’s a heck of a win. That’s a tough opponent right there and this was a championship-type game. We had a team that went to the NFC Championship against a team that went to the AFC Championship. We knew it was going to be a tough game. They have tons of weapons over there. It was going to be a battle to the end. Our challenge to our guys was to keep digging, to dig deep and find a way to get it done. That’s what I’m proud of. We felt confident that we’d win the game, we just didn’t know how. That’svbasically how it went. That field goal kicker we picked up is not bad. Nick Folk did a decent job with five field goals. This is the first time that the Minnesota Vikings have given up over 150 yards rushing in 51 games, so you have to tip your hat to our offensive line. Our running backs did a great job. We had that little clock management issue right before the two-minute (mark). I was like ‘Let’s throw it!,’ but I never thought we’d snap the ball (early). That was a huge, huge problem there, but we overcame it. We’re happy to move on at 4-1. We’re right on schedule. We want to have the best record in the National Football League at the end of the season, and we’re right on pace.

Watching Darrelle Revis in the New York Jets 29-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Monday Night Football it was obvious this was not vintage Revis.

Revis, who had missed the two previous games with a hamstring injury, admitted after the game he is not completely healthy. He also said he may not play this Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

“Right now, it’s very sore and very swollen,” said Revis, who didn’t believe that he strained his left hamstring again.

Revis, who was beat on Percy Harvin’s 34-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, admitted he was unsure whether he’d play against the Broncos on Sunday.

“I don’t know,” Revis said. “As of right now, we’re going to take it day by day like we’ve been doing and see how it goes.”

Revis felt soreness from the start of the game, but couldn’t pinpoint one specific moment that made his hamstring feel worse.

“I felt soreness during the game,” Revis. “I could tell my hamstring was hurting…. Some plays it would hurt and some plays it wouldn’t. It started in the first quarter. For me, it was just fighting through it. If I knew I was going to be a hindrance to the team, then I would have called it quits and went in.”

“This process is kind of frustrating, because I’ve never been hurt during the season,” Revis added. “I want to be out there so bad with my teammates and win games. I need to learn patience right now and get back to 100 percent.”

It really was not hard to see this injury coming after Revis missed all of training camp in a contract dispute. Jumping right into NFL games with no preparation is an invitation to injury.

The injury also bring to mind that suffered by Giants’ cornerback Aaron Ross last season. He suffered a hamstring injury in training camp, and it dogged him all season causing him to play in just four games. It seems Revis is also headed for a year-long struggle to get healthy.

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Shonn Greene scored a touchdown with 4:30 remaining and Dwight Lowery sealed the victory with a 26-yard interception return for a score, as the New York Jets held off the Minnesota Vikings, 29-20, in a game filled with storylines.

The most intriguing story being the start of Randy Moss' second stint with the Vikings, who acquired the All-Pro wideout from the Patriots on Wednesday. Moss, who started his career with seven star-studded seasons in Minnesota (1998-2004), caught four passes for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Mark Sanchez completed 21-of-44 passes for 191 yards for the Jets (4-1), who got five field goals from Nick Folk in a game that was delayed 45 minutes at the start due to lightning.

Greene carried the ball 10 times for 57 yards, while LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 94 yards on 20 carries for New York, which has won four straight games since opening the season with a loss to the Ravens.

Brett Favre, who played for the Jets in 2008, connected on 14-of-34 passes for 264 yards, three touchdowns and a pick for the Vikings (1-3), who were coming off a bye week. Favre became the first player in NFL history to throw 500 TD passes and record 70,000 passing yards.

Percy Harvin caught five passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Adrian Peterson carried the ball 18 times for 88 yards.

"There's a lot of football left. With all the mistakes that we made tonight, we still had a chance to win the game and that's encouraging," Favre said.

Trailing 12-0 early in the third quarter, the Vikings' offense finally came alive. Minnesota converted three third downs on a 10-play, 72-yard drive. Faced with a 3rd-and-17 from the Jets' 37-yard line, Favre launched a deep pass down the right sideline. The football fell into the hands of Moss in the end zone with 2:10 left.

Brad Smith's 86-yard return on the ensuing kickoff set up Folk's 31-yard field goal for a 15-7 New York lead.

Minnesota answered with a touchdown to get within two points. An offensive pass interference call on Moss make it 3rd-and-19 from the New York 34. Favre threw the ball to the middle of the field for Harvin, who sprinted to the left sideline and into the end zone. A failed two-point conversion kept the score at 15-13 with 12:47 to play in the fourth.

Following a series of punts, the Jets started from their own 34. A 16-yard Braylon Edwards catch and 16-yard Tomlinson run had New York at the Minnesota 23. Greene then found a gap on the right side of the line and scampered into the end zone for a 22-13 advantage with 4:30 to go.

Favre and the Vikings made things interesting. After Harvin returned the kickoff 44 yards, Favre put together a five-play drive. Harvin capped the march with an 11-yard catch in the back of the end zone. The extra point cut the deficit to 22-20 with 3:09 left.

After forcing New York to punt, Minnesota got the ball back at its own 16 with 1:48 to play. Following two bad passes, Favre was picked off by Lowery, who went 26 yards the other way for a 29-20 Jets lead.

"I played what I felt. I made a break on the ball," Lowery said of the game- sealing play. "The pressure got there and [Favre] had to hold the ball more than a split second than he wanted to, and the rest is history."

Minnesota got to the New York 39 as time ran out.

The Vikings wasted little time in getting Moss involved. On the first play of the game, Favre handed the ball off to Harvin, who gave the football to Moss on a reverse. Moss then threw a nine-yard pass to Favre. The play was called back after it was ruled Favre was an ineligible receiver. Minnesota added two false start penalties during a three-and-out.

Minnesota did little with its next possession, and a 37-yard punt by Chris Kluwe gave the Jets great field position. Tomlinson rushed the ball three times during a seven-play drive that resulted in a 25-yard Folk field goal.

Folk's 53-yard field goal extended New York's margin to 6-0 with 5:29 to go in the half. On the ensuing Vikings possession, Favre fumbled the snap near midfield.

The Jets put together a 14-play drive as the rain started again. Folk made a 22-yarder to make it a 9-0 game at the break. Minnesota recorded three first downs and 51 yards of total offense in the first half.

Favre fumbled the ball early in the third quarter, which led to a 34-yard Folk field goal for a 12-0 contest.

We’re less than two hours away from kickoff between the New York Jets and the Minnesota VIkings. There are juicy story-lines galore in this one: Brett Favre facing his old team, the Jets; Randy Moss’ first game back with the Minnesota VIkings; the embarrassment enveloping Brett Favre.

Amidst all the big names and sub-plots involved in tonight’s game, you likely won’t hear this name called out too often by the Monday Night Football crew: Nick Mangold, the Jets’ center. Mangold just quietly goes about his business as the quarterback of the Jets’ offensive line. On Monday, the highest-paid center in the league joined The Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio to talk about playing with Favre, the highly-anticipated inter-conference matchup, and other interesting topics.

Whether he liked playing with Brett Favre:

“Yeah, how could you not? I watched him growing up. He is the greatest, if not one of the greatest quarterbacks ever and to have the experience was fantastic.”

Whether Brett Favre was friendly to others or whether he kept to himself:

“You know I think he was as friendly as a 39-year old can be with a bunch of 24-year olds running around. He was a good teammate on the field, obviously because of the age difference, I figure, we didn’t spend too much time off the field.”

Whether the team is a little less excited about the Vikings game because they are not an AFC team:

“Oh you better not believe that. That’s when you get it and when you see a team that was right there for the Super Bowl last year and then you watch them playing I think we are pretty amped up for this game.”

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has apologized to teammates for the Jenn Sterger situation, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Shouldn't Favre be worried about playing 'lights out' every week? And shouldn't he be apologizing to Sterger -- and his wife -- if indeed that was his voice and pictures of his junk on Deadspin the other day?

I hate rooting for the Jets. I would not mind watching Favre get pounded tonight, though. Somehow, I think before this season is done Favre is going to wish he really had retired.

Here are some quotes from the past few days about tonight’s Minnesota Vikings at New York Jets Monday Night Football matchup.

Jets coach Rex Ryan on how much the team is looking forward to playing on Monday Night football against Minnesota.

It’ll be huge, but we haven’t played worth a darn on Monday Night. You go back to last year when we got beat by Miami (and) this year we get beat by Baltimore. We got beat in the preseason on Monday Night. We’re changing things up a little bit. Our schedule is changing up a little. We’ve got to find the formula to win on Monday night. Now normally, you’re playing a good football team (and that) probably has something to do with it, but we really do need to find a way to win. Playing in front of our fans after being away for two weeks is going to be a huge boost. Monday Night football is great. The whole country sees you, but I think the biggest thing is the fact we’re playing a home game in front of our fans.

Ryan on why his team embraces the spotlight.

We don’t have anything to hide. We know we’re not lined up perfect. These guys (media) can tell you that. “Rex you said this (and) everybody else said this.” ‘Oops. I’m more leaning this way’ (laughing). We’re playing football. We’re coaching football. We know it’s a multi-million dollar business, but it’s still a game and we’re not doing heart surgery. We don’t have anything to hide. We have the best facilities in football. We take care of our players, in my opinion, better than anybody else. We have the support staff around our players in this organization that’s top of the line. We have great people in our locker room, so what do we have to be afraid of or ashamed of? Go ahead and show it off. I think that’s who we are. One thing we want to do is, I wanted every coach in the National Football League to want to come coach for the Jets. I wanted every player in the National Football League to want to play for the Jets. That makes your job a lot easier when you get that kind of reputation throughout this league and I think we’re starting to get that reputation.

Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine on defending Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson.

That’s a good question because that’s something we’ve been stressing all week. We don’t want to lose sight of him. With all (the) talk of (Brett) Favre and (Randy) Moss and the other weapons they have in the pass game, this is one of the best rushing football teams in the NFL. It has always been our point of emphasis. If you can’t stop the run, you’re in trouble. Rex (Ryan) has already said that he’s a special back. If he’s not the best, he’s one of the best, him and maybe the kid at Tennessee (Chris Johnson). He’s special because he’s a bigger guy who has little man moves. He’s strong and breaks a lot of tackles.

Pettine on how the Moss trade changes their game plan.

I don’t think it changes it much. Part of it is we have a lot of calls up in our inventory and I think it depends on how they are using him. (We have) calls that are designed to eliminate a vertical threat, so we’ll have those options available to us on game day. We didn’t want to come in with an entire plan for him and have him come in and play 15-20 snaps. At the same time, we didn’t want to shrug it off and say, ‘He’s not going to play much. There’s no way he’s going to be ready,’ and have him come out and play 60 plays against us. We just wanted to make sure package-wise, that we have the flexibility to go either way with it. It’s built into the plan to handle it. Again, there’s some uncertainty there as far as where they line him up, whether they’re moving him around, putting him in the slot, putting him outside, (or) putting him by himself on the backside, so that’s something we’ll have to see as the game unfolds.

Brett Favre on what he thinks the crowd reaction to him will be on Monday.

I don’t know. It was one year and I think, I would hope like with any place I’ve played, the people appreciate the effort I’ve given. Trust me, I take a lot of the blame, as a quarterback should. We probably get way to much glory. I did all that I could do and I hope that they appreciate that. That doesn’t mean they have to like me. I know I’m coming in (as) an opponent. From a future standpoint, it worked out well (for) them.

Favre on the acquisition of Randy Moss.

I think, on paper, it can be a great addition. I’m excited about it. I think this team is excited about it. We know what he brings. We’re excited about it, but we still have to play. Like I was saying, it’s a great addition, but we still have to block, we still have to go out and make the right reads and we have to do the little things correctly (and) try to fit him into this offense. It’s a totally new language to him, so as he’s thinking this thing though, we can’t overload him and can’t really tax him. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very excited about this opportunity. I think all our players are. Any player across this league would be excited about this opportunity.
