Flushing, NY (Sports Network) – Adam LaRoche homered twice and drove in a career-high six runs and Daniel Hudson had a successful Arizona debut in a 14-1 drubbing of the Mets in the rubber match of a three-game series.

Hudson (1-0), acquired when the Diamondbacks sent Edwin Jackson to the White Sox on Friday, gave up a mere three hits, one walk and one run over a career- high eight innings and also drove in a pair of runs with his first big-league hit in the fifth inning. The 23-year-old right-hander also struck out four.

Stephen Drew and John Hester added solo home runs, while Justin Upton went 2- for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 17 games in the win.

Jonathon Niese (7-5) was touched for seven runs — six earned — on seven hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings for New York, which ended up splitting its six-game homestand.

Arizona scored more runs in this three-game set (27) than it had during its seven-game skid (18) coming in.

After three scoreless innings, Kelly Johnson and Upton each singled ahead of LaRoche, who smacked a 1-0 offering over the wall in right for his 15th round- tripper of the season.

The same trio essentially duplicated the feat in the fifth after Ike Davis’ sacrifice fly got the Mets on the board.

Johnson walked, Upton singled and LaRoche took Niese deep down the right-field line for his 16th career multi-home run game.

The D’Backs loaded the bases later in the frame just as they did in the fourth, but this time Hudson helped his own cause with a dribbler up the middle off Elmer Dessens to plate a pair for an 8-1 cushion.

Dessens coughed up two long homers in the seventh to Drew and Hester, and Mark Reynolds singled home Gerardo Parra in the eighth.

Arizona tacked on three more in the ninth on run-scoring hits from pinch- hitter Augie Ojeda and Chris Young and a sacrifice fly from Bobby Crosby, who was acquired in a trade with the Pirates on Saturday.

Hudson gave up one hit after the first inning and set down 11 straight at one point. Esmerling Vasquez pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the gem.

Four new members were welcomed into the Mets Hall of Fame Sunday, all playing a large part in their 1986 World Series championship team, as general manager Frank Cashen, manager Davey Johnson, starting pitcher Dwight Gooden and outfielder Darryl Strawberry were inducted together in the 2010 class… Arizona won the season series, 5-1…Mets shortstop Jose Reyes went 0-for-3, snapping his hitting streak at 12 games…Drew’s homer was his first since May 19, a span of 208 at-bats.

(Sports Network) - Right-hander Daniel Hudson takes the mound for the first time as a National Leaguer today when his new team -- the Arizona Diamondbacks -- visits New York for the finale of a three-game weekend series with the Mets at Citi Field.

The Diamondbacks won, 4-3.

Niese, a seventh-round pick in 2005, was 6-2 on the season after a win at Washington July 2, but has gone just 1-2 in four subsequent outings.

He earned the lone win, an 8-2 triumph over St. Louis, with six innings of one-run ball on July 27.
