The New York Rangers and Alexander Frolov agreed on a one-year, $3-million dollar contract today, accord to TSN.

Here is the official statement.

“Alex is a highly skilled player who we feel will play a key role in improving our offense and play in all situations,” Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather said in a statement. “He is strong competitor and has the ability to play either wing position.”

Personally, I think Frolov makes the Rangers a very dangerous team. Although his numbers have gone down the past three years that’s mainly because of his lack of power play minutes and the Kings forcing him to work on his two-way game.

He is currently a very complete player, and I would pencil him in for 20-30 goals this year; which will help take the burden off of Marian Gaborik. The Rangers, who really haven't made any significant changes to the roster this off-season, have found their offensive man; and for a very small price tag.

It will be interesting to see where John Tortorella puts Frolov in the line-up, but no matter what happens this deal is a good one. A one-year deal can't go wrong, and at the worst -- if the Rangers are doing horribly -- he will grab a king's ransom at the trading deadline.
