2012 MLB Home Run Derby: Prince Fielder Wins 2nd Career Derby Title

Prince Fielder won the 2012 MLB Home Run Derby with 12 homers in the final round Thursday night. Fielder beat out Jose Bautista, who hit seven home runs in the final round for second place. Fielder also won the competition in 2009.

The New York Yankees' only representative, Robinson Cano, was eliminated in the first round after he hit zero home runs. Cano was considered one of the favorites to win, after taking the title in 2011.

Cano did a solid job picking his teammates as the captain of the American League squad, however. Bautista beat out Mark Trumbo in a swing-off to advance to the finals, meaning the Top 3 batters at the event were all from the AL. Bautista and Trumbo were tied at 13 home runs through two rounds.
